ABOUT
Self-taught artist, Kathleen Copp, has been honing her skills in acrylic paintings for the past several years at her studio located in Derry, New Hampshire.
Growing up she took a special interest in the arts, finding her love in creating charcoal portraits at a very young age. It was not until her senior year of high school that she discovered her passion for painting. Kathleen is exceptionally diverse when it comes to mediums, subject matter, and technique. Her color pallet ranges from saturated and striking, to pale and neutral depending on the piece she is creating. She paints abstracts, animal portraits, and seascapes, but her preference lies within abstract portraits.
As a young American artist in her 20’s, she uses her artistic skills to express her voice against the stigma of the mental health crisis. She says, "People are struggling, myself included. At times when I feel at my lowest, the last thing I desire is to find the words to explain myself. I create for those who feel alone and have a hard time expressing what they feel. I capture the emotion to let them know they are seen without speaking a word.”
Kathleen has collaborated with many charities and non-profit organizations, including the American Heart Association and The Upper Room, providing live painting services which raised thousands of dollars donated to each cause.
In her free time, she volunteers as an art mentor at the Austin17House Community Center. Outside of the art world, you can find her at the beach or spending time with her family and dog, Diesel.
